What to Do After the Result — Counselling
Now that the result is out, the next step is counselling. MBBS/BDS All India Quota (AIQ) counselling is conducted by the MCC at mcc.nic.in, while state-quota counselling is handled by your state authority. AYUSH counselling is at aaccc.gov.in. Frequently Asked Questions — NEET 2026 Result
NTA declared the NEET UG 2026 result on 16 July 2026, and scorecards are now available on neet.nta.nic.in. About 20 lakh candidates appeared in the re-exam and 11.21 lakh qualified, with more than 58% of the qualifiers being women. Along with the result, NTA released the scorecard, All India Rank (AIR), category rank and merit list. Log in with your application number and date of birth to download your scorecard.
NTA released the NEET UG 2026 Provisional Answer Key on 25 June 2026 for Code 50, 60, 70 and 80. The challenge/objection window was open until 28 June 2026 (11:50 PM IST). The challenge fee was ₹200 per question, refunded if the objection is accepted. NTA then reviewed all objections through its Expert Committee, released the Final Answer Key, and declared the NEET UG 2026 result on 16 July 2026.
To check your NEET 2026 result: (1) visit neet.nta.nic.in, (2) click the "NEET UG 2026 Result" link, (3) enter your Application Number and Date of Birth, and (4) enter the CAPTCHA and click Submit. Your scorecard will display your subject-wise marks, total marks out of 720, percentile score and All India Rank (AIR). Download and save the PDF. The scorecard is also available on DigiLocker.
NEET UG 2026 qualifying cutoff percentiles are: General (UR) — 50th percentile (approx. 145–165 marks expected), General-PwBD — 45th percentile, and SC/ST/OBC-NCL — 40th percentile (approx. 100–120 marks expected). These are only the qualifying cutoffs needed to appear in counselling. For actual admission to a Government Medical College, General category candidates usually need 600+ marks.
NEET UG 2026 is worth 720 marks across 180 MCQs: Physics 45 questions (180 marks), Chemistry 45 questions (180 marks), and Biology — Botany 45 + Zoology 45 = 90 questions (360 marks). The marking scheme is +4 for a correct answer, −1 for a wrong answer, and 0 for unattempted. Duration is 180 minutes, in offline OMR-sheet mode. For the 2026 re-exam, NTA confirmed one dropped Physics question and one question with two correct options.
NTA confirmed two adjustments in the NEET UG 2026 Re-Exam (21 June): (1) Question 26 (Physics) in Code 50 was dropped — every candidate who attempted it automatically gets +4 bonus marks; and (2) another Physics question had two correct options, so candidates who selected either correct option get full marks (+4). Both adjustments are reflected in the Final Answer Key and final score calculation.
