Re-Exam 2026
NEET UG 2026 Re-Examination — 21 June 2026
The NEET UG 2026 Result is expected around 15 July 2026 (2nd week of July). NTA has not announced the exact official date yet. The Answer Key challenge window closed on 28 June 2026; after this, the Expert Committee reviews all objections, the Final Answer Key is released (expected 1st week of July), and then the result is declared. Along with the result, NTA releases the Scorecard, All India Rank (AIR), Category Rank and Merit List on neet.nta.nic.in.
NTA released the NEET UG 2026 Provisional Answer Key on 25 June 2026 for Code 50, 60, 70 and 80. The challenge/objection window was open until 28 June 2026 (11:50 PM IST) and is now closed. The challenge fee was ₹200 per question, refunded if the objection is accepted. NTA is now reviewing all objections through its Expert Committee, and the Final Answer Key is expected in the 1st week of July 2026.
NTA confirmed two adjustments in the NEET UG 2026 Re-Exam (21 June): (1) Question 26 (Physics) in Code 50 was dropped — every candidate who attempted it automatically gets +4 bonus marks; and (2) another Physics question had two correct options, so candidates who selected either correct option get full marks (+4). Both adjustments are reflected in the Final Answer Key and final score calculation.

Cutoff & Eligibility
Qualifying marks, percentile, and eligibility criteria
The General (UR) category qualifying percentile is 50th percentile. Based on 2024–25 trends, this corresponds to approximately 715+ marks out of 720. However, actual admission cutoffs for individual colleges vary based on available seats and demand. The qualifying percentile is only to appear in counselling.
SC / ST / OBC-NCL candidates need 40th percentile to qualify for NEET 2026. This corresponds to approximately 125+ marks out of 720 based on 2024–25 data. PwBD General candidates need 45th percentile. These are minimum qualifying criteria, not AIQ admission cutoffs.
NEET UG 2026 qualifying cutoff percentiles are: General (UR) — 50th percentile (approx. 145–165 marks expected), General-PwBD — 45th percentile, and SC/ST/OBC-NCL — 40th percentile (approx. 100–120 marks expected). These are only the qualifying cutoffs needed to appear in counselling. For actual admission to a Government Medical College, General category candidates usually need 600+ marks.
Use the formula: Total Score = (Correct Answers × 4) − (Incorrect Answers × 1). Unattempted questions score 0, and the maximum score is 720. Compare each of your OMR responses against the provisional answer key, count your correct and incorrect answers, and apply the formula. Note that the benefit of the dropped Physics question and the two-correct-options question is added automatically in the Final Answer Key.
For NEET UG 2026, the minimum age is 17 years as on 31 December 2026. There is currently no upper age limit (following the Supreme Court order), and there is no cap on the number of attempts. Eligibility requires passing Class 12 with Physics, Chemistry and Biology/Biotechnology as compulsory subjects, with a minimum of 50% marks for General and 40% for SC/ST/OBC candidates.
Counselling
AIQ and State Quota counselling process
NEET 2026 AIQ (All India Quota) Counselling is expected to begin in August 2026, roughly 2–3 weeks after the result is declared. It is conducted by the Medical Counselling Committee (MCC) at mcc.nic.in. The process is: Registration → Fee Payment → Choice Filling → Seat Allotment → Reporting. State Quota counselling is conducted separately by each State Medical Authority, and AYUSH counselling is held at aaccc.gov.in.
All India Quota (AIQ) covers 15% of government medical college seats plus all seats at AIIMS, JIPMER, ESIC and AFMC; it is conducted by MCC at mcc.nic.in and is open to candidates from any state. State Quota covers the remaining 85% of government seats plus all private/deemed college seats in a state; it is conducted by the State Authority and usually requires a state domicile certificate. Private college fees are considerably higher (₹10–30 lakh per year).
Documents required for NEET 2026 counselling include: NEET Scorecard, Class 10 certificate (date-of-birth proof), Class 12 marksheet and pass certificate, category certificate (SC/ST/OBC/EWS), PwBD certificate (if applicable), domicile certificate (for state quota), a government photo ID (Aadhaar/Passport/Voter ID), passport-size photographs, character certificate, medical fitness certificate, income and asset certificate (for EWS), and a migration certificate if applicable.
Approximately 1,10,000+ MBBS seats across 700+ medical colleges in India are filled through NEET UG 2026. This includes government colleges (AIQ 15% + State 85%), private medical colleges, deemed universities, and central institutions like AIIMS (21 institutes), JIPMER, ESIC medical colleges, and AFMC, Pune.
